What are Skin Boosters?

The main reasons for the ageing of our skin include accumulation of excess oxidants (called ’free radicals’) from unhealthy lifestyles, pollution, smoking and stress, as well as the loss of the skin’s natural ‘spongy’ component called hyaluronic acid which retains water in the skin. Skin boosters are composed of ingredients naturally found in the skin, including hyaluronic acid, amino acids, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. They are designed to prevent premature skin aging, restore skin density and maintain skin glow by retaining moisture and stimulating new collagen production.

Treatment areas include  face, neck, décolletage, chest and hands . The procedure involves injecting tiny amounts of product under the skin with a fine needle to fill in wrinkles or spread evenly over the face and neck.  Since the mixture contains anaesthetic it is not an uncomfortable treatment but for sensitive skins a numbing cream can be applied to the area 1 hour before. The procedure lasts about 20 to 30 minutes, and one can get back to work immediately after.  Minor effects such as small areas of swelling or bruising are possible but uncommon, and resolve very rapidly.

Effects are visible after a single treatment but, since this product is broken down naturally, the recommendations for optimal results are an initial programme of 3 sessions one month apart and a maintenance session 2 to 3 times a year. Duration of the results depends on the degree of correction required and the individual’s lifestyle, age and skin type.
