Our skin ages over time as toxins or oxidants (also known as ‘free radicals’) accumulate within the body. Exposure to oxidants arises due to pollution, unhealthy lifestyle habits such as smoking, and stress. Age also plays a factor, as over the years there is a loss of the skin’s natural spongy component – hyaluronic acid – which is responsible for retaining water beneath the skin, giving it a youthful texture and appearance.
Skin boosters are composed of ingredients naturally found in the skin, these being hyaluronic acid, amino acids, antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins. They are designed to prevent premature skin aging, restore skin density, and maintain skin glow by retaining moisture and stimulating new collagen production.
Treatment areas include face, neck, décolletage, chest and hands. The procedure involves injecting tiny amounts of product under the skin with a fine needle. It can be applied to fill in wrinkles or spread evenly over the face and neck. The mixture also contains anaesthetic, making the treatment almost painless. For clients with sensitive skin, we also provide a numbing cream which can be applies to the area from 1 hour before the appointment. The procedure lasts about 20 to 30 minutes, and one can get back to work immediately after. Minor effects such as small areas of swelling or bruising are possible but uncommon and resolve very rapidly.
Effects are visible after a single treatment but, since this product is broken down naturally, the recommendations for optimal results are an initial programme of 3 sessions one month apart and a maintenance session 2 to 3 times a year. Duration of the results depends on the degree of correction required and the individual’s lifestyle, age and skin type.
